The American Heart & Stroke Association
This past February, Stater Bros. Charities continued to celebrate a 12-year partnership with the American Heart & Stroke Association by conducting the Stater Bros. Charities “Have A Heart, Save A Heart” mobile campaign in honor of National Heart Month. This campaign has raised over $3.6 million to date.
$1 and $5 paper hearts were sold at each checkstand where customers were welcome to write a loved one’s name on the heart which was displayed inside the store. In addition, customers were given a detachable bookmark to take home for each paper heart sold. For each $5 paper heart sold, customers were given a "Red Dress" pin compliments of the American Heart & Stroke Association.
Funds raised from this campaign went directly to local research projects and programs that will educate Southern California residents about the risks of heart disease and stroke. To learn more, visit www.staterbroshasheart.org
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
During the month of June, Stater Bros. Charities partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by raising funds at each check stand. Customers were invited to participate by purchasing a $1 paper balloon at the register. Customers were welcome to write their names or the names of loved ones on the balloons, which were displayed inside the store.
In addition to this campaign, Stater Bros. Charities partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at their annual “Light The Night” Walk at Angel Stadium on Saturday, September 28th. This walk honored those who have been affected by blood cancer, those who walked in memory of someone who lost their battle with blood cancer and those who have a family member or friend who is currently battling the disease.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Their mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, while improving the quality of life for patients and their families. To date, this Stater Bros. Charities campaign has raised over $1.8 million.
All funds raised will be used to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma’s Patient Services programs in Southern California. Patient services include financial aid, support groups, first connection programs and countless others. To learn more, visit www.lls.org.
