President - Pete Van Helden
Pete joined Stater Bros. on June 1, 2013 as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). He brings to the Company 36 years of experience in the Supermarket Industry.
Pete began his career in the Food Industry with Rosauers in Libby, Montana in 1977 as a bagger and stock clerk. In 1978, he joined Albertsons in Bozeman, Montana as a clerk. Over the years with Albertsons, he advanced through various roles from District Manager to President in major retail markets throughout the country including Southern California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Florida, and Illinois. In 2006, Supervalu acquired the premier properties of Albertsons and Van Helden accepted a position of responsibility for the company’s retail operations in the western third of the country. In 2009, he was promoted to Executive Vice President - Retail Operations and assumed responsibility for the company’s 1,100 retail stores nationwide.
Pete holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. In addition, he has completed the Executive Business Program at Stanford University.
He is Director Emeritus and a current member of the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC).
Pete and his wife are moving to Redlands, California to join the Stater Bros. Family. They have been married for 25 years and have 2 daughters, both currently attending college in the Midwest. Pete enjoys playing golf, skiing, and he is an avid private pilot.
