STATER BROS. MARKETS AND CARGILL TEAM UP TO DONATE
3,500 POUNDS OF TURKEY TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS

Honeysuckle White® turkey More To Share® program and Stater Bros. Markets announce Holiday Food donation to benefit Local Food Banks  
 

San Bernardino, California–As part of its national More To Share® hunger-fighting program, the producers of Honeysuckle White® turkey products and Stater Bros. Markets, announced today that they will donate 3,500 pounds of turkey to five Southern California food banks to help feed area hungry during the holidays. The donations have been made to the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Orange County, the Community Action Partnership in San Bernardino County, the North County’s Food Bank in San Diego County, and the San Diego Food Bank
           
This year’s program comes at an important time. Ninety-nine percent of food banks recently surveyed by Feeding
America® reported a significant surge in local food relief demand, and this holiday season is expected to see near record demand for food support in America.
 
“I always tell my associates to do the right thing for the right reason,” said Jack H. Brown, Chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets.  “When people are hungry, especially during the holiday season, those of us who are able should do what we can to help. We’re thankful that we can again work with the Honeysuckle White turkey More To Share program to provide turkeys to those in need.”

The Honeysuckle White turkey More To Share program, in its 14th year, has partnered with retail grocers to donate more than 72,000 turkeys, including nearly 5,500 in 2009, to local hunger-fighting charities.
