General Merchandise Clerk (Cut Fruit)

JOB SUMMARY:

To prepare, package, and display Fresh Cut Produce foods for customer purchase and consumption.

FUNDAMENTAL JOB TASKS:

  • Prepare Fresh Cut Produce food items for display
  • Package, label, and price products
  • Place point of sale signs, tags, stickers as needed
  • Stock and display merchandise for sale to customers
  • Assist customers with their questions
  • Operate department equipment in safe, efficient manner
  • Maintain merchandise in cases and shelves for orderly display and rotation
  • Clean department fixtures and equipment
  • Follow all cleaning and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain responsible inventory in storage area
  • Order replacement merchandise and supplies as needed
  • Maintain logs and records of damaged and lost merchandise
  • Complete routine price changes
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain proper safe temperatures on all items
  • Assist Produce Manager with monthly inventory
  • Other related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to read recipes, invoices, labels, signs to adequately prepare, package label and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Must be able to operate a computerized scale, communicate with customers and perform basic math calculations.
  • Must maintain a sense of integrity.
  • High school diploma is preferred but not required.

Hourly Pay Range: $15.70 – 20.05 This position is covered under the UFCW union agreement
